Great App; No Multiple Monitor Support Yet
This app does exactly as it says it does. it provides 8 fireplace scenes to choose from in 720p and crackling fire sound audio. My wife has this app installed on her 15” MacBook with retina display and loves it. I loved it on my 17” MacBook Pro until I added 2 external monitors a couple of days later. In my first configuration, the app would only display the fireplace on one monitor. I emailed the developer to inquire about a solution and received a kind reply within a few hours that the app did not have multiple monitor support at this time but he would add that to the list of features to include in the next update. I appreciated the responsiveness and the willingness to continue improving the app. Due to technical issues, I had to change my monitor configuration by installing the Matrox DualHead2Go adapter. This in essence turns two external monitors into one big screen. When I launched the Fireplace Live HD app it stretched the fireplace across both screens. I was hoping this would be a workable solution but because the video is in 720p, it didn’t look good at all. Might have worked if the video was in 1080p. Because I love this app and want it to succeed, I would make the following suggestions to the developer:
(1) Add multiple monitor support.
(2) Boost videos to 1080p. (If file size is a concern, perhaps you could do what the developers of ‘Magic Window’ have done by only including a 2 videos in the initial download and then allow customers to choose which additional ones they’d like add later.)
(3) Add a Christmas fireplace as some others have suggested.
Overall, a good app with a responsive developer. But if you have multiple monitors or need 1080p this might not be the app for you.
